On her debut album DREAMSCAPES, Polish cellist and composer Dobrawa Czocher explores the magic and meaning of dreaming, an inspiration that has moved artists in their creative exploits for centuries. Although DREAMSCAPES is her first album, Czocher is not her test case. At the age of 30, she has a voluminous career as a professional musician behind her.

Dobrawa Czocher graduated from two prestigious schools, the Chopin University of Music in Warsaw and the Hochschule für Musik in Detmold. She then began her career at the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie before being appointed first cellist of the Neue Philharmonie Berlin and soloist with Szczecin Philharmonic.

Together with Polish pianist Hania Rania, a friend, Czocher took her first steps in composition and contemporary classical. Their collaboration, "Bia?a flaga" and follow-up "Inner Symphonies" for Deutsche Grammophon brought them worldwide recognition and shifted Dobrawa Czocher's interest from technical perfection to free expression. On DREAMSCAPES, the cellist, with the help of pianist and producer Niklas Paschburg, shows how comfortably she can move between classical and contemporary, and you can hear influences ranging from Brahms, to Philip Glass to GoGo Penguin.
