Mega Bog is the musical mothership through which American artist Erin Birgy unleashes her fantastical chamberpop upon the world. With her rich and unpredictable music, consisting of elements of folk, jazz-arrangements and a soft touch of psychedelica, Birgy has been balancing on the tightrope between pop and experiment for six albums now. Her albums unfold like sonic dreamscapes into a polychromatic sound pallet, while the music bounces in different directions at once. Only to arrive suddenly at these tiny moments that make the hair in the back of your neck rise.
The wonderful ‘Life, and another’ (2021), co-produced by Big Thief’s James Krivchenia, is another curvy masterwork, deemed worthy of an 8.0 by Pitchfork. Closer to home, Mega Bog can count Knack Focus and OOR among her fans, while she was invited by curator Cate LeBon for the 2019 edition of the Sonic City festival. Unpredictable, fascinating and unique. Breaking Waves!
