22-year-old Pip Blom from Amsterdam brings compact and catchy lo-fi pop songs. Influences from bands such as Parquet Courts, Ought, LCD Soundsystem and Fat White Family also bring a nice grating edge to her songs. She played as a support for The Vaccines, Franz Ferdinand and The Breeders and is a hype in her home country, where she got a nice spot on the line-up of Best Kept Secret last summer. And now it's Belgium's turn. Those who like some girl power with their guitars better not miss this one out. Breaking Waves!

Under nom de plume Catbug Paulien Rondou from Antwerp writes pure, intimate songs about nature, her love for cats, the farm she lives in and bizarre internet videos. With only her voice and a guitar, she convinced the jury of the competition 'De Zes' and since the release of her debut 'Universe', Radio 1, Indiestyle and Ayco Duyster are convinced as well.
'Universe' is the best thing we heard this year from a Belgian artist and the first end-of-year lists seem to agree with us. Catbug shows us the beauty of simplicity. Don't let this young talent pass you by!
