Composer and clarinet player Angel Bat Dawid is one of the latest rising stars of the International Anthem label, which houses the brightest talents from the contemporary scene in Chicago, introducing the world to both the history and future of creative jazz in the city.

Cult heroes like Ensemble of Chicago and Sun Ra are big inspirations to Angel Bat Dawid, which she translates in a militant way to the world of today. Pitchfork described her debut album as follows: “The debut from the Chicago-based composer and clarinetist serves as a vibrant, spiritual, free-jazz document of black life as it stands today”.

Percussionist and producer Sarathy Korwar, who was raised in India, combines his background as a classical Indian tablaplayer with his love for jazz and electronic music. Debut album ‘Day tot Day’ was released in 2016 by legendary label Ninja Tune. Shortly afterwards, Korwar started the UPAJ Collective, leading to the release of the beautiful and contemplative live album ‘My East is Your West’. On latest album ‘More Arriving’, Korwar collaborates with rappers from Mumbai, creating a blend of different cultures.
