Leuven-based Ão 2024 needs little introduction. In their rookie year 2023, the group released their debut album 'Ao Mar' to great acclaim, went to Portugal with dEUS and sold out increasingly large venues all over the country. With their mix of saudade, indie and subtle electronica, Ão has a unique and exciting recipe. The phenomenal voice of frontwoman Brenda Corijn, who draws on her Mozambican-Portuguese, immediately catches the eye, and is wrapped up by guitarist Siebe Chau, producer Jolan Decaestecker and percussionist Bert Peyffers in southern vibes, sultry electronics and at times pumping bass.
Ão's sound is perhaps best demonstrated live on stage. Intoxicating but often danceable, the band moves from fever dream to nightclub, hovering between the sound of FKA Twigs, Lhasa de Sela, Arooj Aftab and James Blake.
After their sold-out concert at Cactus Café long in advance, a spot at Cactus Festival 2024 was a no-brainer. And because we want to hear Ão in our beautiful club, we invite the band one more time to come and play their debut album and new single 'More' in the autumn. Not to be missed!
