Serbian-Canadian singer-songwriter Dana Gavanski had actually planned a career in movies, but ended up doing music instead. Having previously shared the stage with big names like Damien Jurado and Chris Cohen, she released her debut album ‘Yesterday Is Gone’ in March 2020 – right at the start of the pandemic. ‘Yesterday Is Gone’ is a delicous pop album with folky influences that stands up to the works of people like Cate LeBon, Weyes Blood and Vashti Bunyan. Gavanski was ready to conquer stages all over, but then the world went into lockdown.
Due to the lack of concerts, Dana had to use her time differently in the past year and a half. She used that time to delve deeper into the works of those artists that inspire her, resulting in the EP ‘Wind Songs’. The EP features five beautiful renditions of songs by her musical heroes, like King Crimson and Ian McDonald. Songs that are able to evoke a slight breeze, as well as a destructive storm. That’s the way we like them.
